In partnership with the Visually Impaired Visitor Group at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, an art project was formed to design an accessible prototype of a selected piece of artwork from their gallery.

Shan made a tactile prototype of René Magritte's Artwork, "The Empty Mask" (1928) by creating a large handheld, interative diorama of the 'mask', imitating textures and objects which identify most with the elements painted.

"I very much enjoyed this. It felt like a really satisfying, literal representation of the work. I think it was nice to have something that the visitors could just sit down with and touch it while having a chat about the work with someone else."
