In partnership with the Visually Impaired Visitor Group at the National Museum of Wales in Cardiff, an art project was formed to design an accessible prototype of a selected piece of artwork from their gallery.

I made a tactile prototype of René Magritte's Artwork, "The Empty Mask" (1928) by creating a large handheld, interative diorama of the 'mask', imitating textures and objects which identify most with the elements painted.

Audio Track (Transcript in Soundcloud Description) with more information of the project, and audio description of the prototype is available below:

"I very much enjoyed this. It felt like a really satisfying, literal representation of the work. I think it was nice to have something that the visitors could just sit down with and touch it while having a chat about the work with someone else."
